INTERNATIONAL RELOCATIONS

As mentioned earlier,  international relocations are slightly different the a local move.  For an international relocation you will need the hereunder mentioned documents for customs. NV Eklipze Logistics gladly assists you with moving your household goods internationally. Our company collaborates with different movers worldwide.

The four types of international relocations are explained further below on this page.

International relocation (import)

1. Standard

The most important aspect for the import relocations, is knowing when you want to schedule the relocation. This will take place according to the date of arrival from the container and the consignee. The shipment can be conducted from door to door, port to port or even in combination. The quotations are made as our relations desires and of course in accordance with our agent in the foreign country.

The mandatory documents for a standard import relocation are:

• Passport

• Proof of registration

• Residence permit

• Value statement

• Packing list

• Bill of Lading

• An authorization letter for customs clearance

Obtaining a residence permit can take several weeks to months. We therefore kindly advise you to start the application procedure as early as possible. The storage and port costs of your relocated ware are charged immediately after arrival of the container in Paramaribo.

When you move to Suriname you can get an exemption on the import duties on your household goods (no motor vehicles). You must submit the following documents for an exemption request:

• A residence permit issued by the Ministry of Justice and Police

• A registration certificate, issued by the Central Bureau for Civil Affairs (C.B.B.). You will need proof of your old place of residence for this.

• Your passport with stamps of registration.

If you have purchased new household goods, please take into account that import duties might be charged on these goods. These import duties vary between 35 - 40% over the * C.I.F value (Cost, Insurance, Freight = price including insurance and freight).

2. Diplomats

If you have a diplomatic status, import duties and sales taxes are not levied on your relocated property. All we need is a copy of your passport and a diplomatic letter from the embassy or Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We will contact the Protocol for the clearance of the contents.

The mandatory documents we do need for a diplomatic import relocation are:

• A passport copy

• An embassy statement

• A value statement

• An authorization letter with the embassy’s letterhead and stamp for customs clearance

• A packing list

• A Bill of Lading

International relocation (Export)

1. Standard

An international export relocation is slightly different than an international import relocation. For your export relocation we have an experienced packing team to assist with packing your belongings according to the latest packing techniques. The most suitable packing materials and packing techniques may prevent breakage of or damage to your belongings.

As precursor on the actual relocation, our team preferably goes through the procedures and discusses the material of your belongings with you. Depending on the materials of your belongings we know what kind of packing material we bring along during the packing stage.

Once your household contents are packed and ready for shipment, they will be inspected by customs, after which they will be sealed. After the inspection, the container or pallets will be transported to the port or airport.

If you relocate from Suriname and are officially de-registered, you can also get an exemption on the export rights (no motor vehicles). For this exemption you must submit the following documents:

• A passport copy

• A de-registration from the Central Bureau for Civil Affairs (C.B.B.)

• A packing list of the belongings that are being transported

• A value statement

• Liability statement

• An authorization letter for customs clearance

If you do not de-register from C.B.B., you must take into account that export tax is levied on your household effects. The export tax is equal to 0.6% over the CIF value of the household effects. (* C.I.F. value: Cost, Insurance, Freight = price including insurance and freight)

2. Diplomats

If you have a diplomatic status, export duties and sales taxes are not levied on your export. We do need to request the exemption and therefore need a copy of your passport and a diplomatic letter from the embassy or Ministry of Foreign Affairs. As mentioned by diplomatic imports, we will contact the protocol department for the clearance of the contents.

The mandatory documents we do need for a diplomatic import relocation are:

• A passport copy

• An embassy statement

• An authorization letter with the embassy’s letterhead and stamp for customs clearance

The remaining documents which are listed below are established by our team during the packing stage:

• A value statement

• A packing list

• A Bill of Lading
